Block paving is the decorative method of creating a pavement or hard standing.
The interlocking paver blocks can be divided into 4 main categories based on:
The most common type of paver blocks/ interlocking tiles, widely used all over the world is Concrete Paver Block/Interlocking Tile. Interlocking Paver Blocks are also called segmental Pavers. These special types of pavers have emerged in The United States over the last few decades. Earlier, brick, clay or concrete was used for paving. These conventional materials used for paving have been replaced by the interlocking pavers. ICBP (Interlocking Concrete Block pavement) technology has been introduced in India in construction, few decades ago, for specific requirement like footpaths, parking areas etc. but now being adopted extensively in different uses where the construction of pavement using hot bituminous mix or cement concrete technology is not feasible or desirable. Concrete block paving is made from crushed stone, sand and cement. Hence it can be said that it can be made from concrete. The concrete mix is blended in varying quantities with either mixed or singular colors then allowed to dry and set in shaped molds. These are tough, strong, and durable. Also, they can sustain all types of climatic conditions.
