Rajasthan Stone Crusher Shutdown Halts NCR Construction
The Rajasthan Stone Crusher and Mines Association has announced an indefinite shutdown, severely impacting the construction sector in North India. As a result, 2,200 stone crushers and 10,000 mining units have ceased operations. This sudden halt is causing severe material shortages across Delhi-NCR and nearby regions.

Why is this important? Rajasthan supplies a significant share of stone dust, gravel, and aggregates used in construction across North India. Without these essential materials, real estate projects, infrastructure development, and public works are all facing delays.
Contractors and suppliers in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad are now scrambling to find alternate sources. As a result, material costs have already started rising. In some areas, deliveries have completely stopped. Consequently, several construction sites have paused work, affecting thousands of daily wage workers.

This isn’t just a logistical issue. It’s an economic concern. Daily revenue losses are mounting in the construction sector. The longer this shutdown continues, the worse the impact will be on real estate timelines and costs.
Furthermore, cement and RMC plants are also facing disruptions. Many rely on crushed stone and gravel from Rajasthan quarries. Without them, batching plants are unable to produce at scale.
Industry associations are urging the government to intervene. Until a resolution is reached, construction activity in Northern India will remain under pressure.
